Things To Do

Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge
This area in Hoquiam is a stopover for hundreds of thousands of shorebirds during their spring and fall migrations. The birds feed here on their way North to the Arctic and their southern return. A Shorebird Festival is held here each April during their peak migration. A new 1,800’ boardwalk makes walking and viewing of birds and wildlife easy.
Port Viewing Towers and Boat Launch
A viewing tower overlooks the port and the harbor at 28th Street in Hoquiam. From this vantage point one can observe logs being sorted and cargo loaded or unloaded on ships bound for national and international ports. This in the only deepwater port on the outer Washington coast with a time advantage to the Pacific Rim. Watch for wildlife across the channel on Renée Island.
Aberdeen Museum of History
Special exhibits feature photos, artifacts, furnishings, and instruments; and include a home, general mercantile and a one-room schoolhouse, circa 1880 to 1920.
Chehalis Valley Historical Museum
Built in 1906 as Our Savior’s First Scandinavian Lutheran Church, this museum in Montesano displays early day artifacts.
Lake Quinault and Rain Forest
This area is one of the most awesomely beautiful places on earth. The Lake is a beautiful, glacier-fed lake surrounded by a temperate coniferous rain forest. It offers miles of trails, several campgrounds and beautiful resorts along the lake’s shore and through the forests. As much as 175" of rain falls here each year. Prime examples of rain forest, wildlife and plants can be found and described on an interpretive trail or seen by car on the loop road around the lake.
Ocean Shores North Jetty
These rocks jut out into the Pacific Ocean at the southern tip of Ocean Shores. The jetty is a popular site with crashing waves and fascinating exploration. There are terrific views across the shipping channel to Westport and plenty of wildlife and bird watching.
Oyehut Game Preserve
On the southern end of the Ocean Shores Peninsula this salt marsh area has good bird watching and a variety of plant life.
Westport Docks and Passenger Ferry
Westport is a popular deep-sea fishing village that is also becoming popular with whale watchers. Tourists love the many diversions on the beaches. A charming waterfront promenade offers a vantage point for this commercial and charter fishing boat marina. A passenger ferry to Ocean Shores departs from here, seasonally.
Westport Lighthouse
Built in 1898, this lighthouse guarded the harbor and guided inbound and passing ships.
Westport Maritime Museum
A Nantucket-style Coast Guard Station housing historic photographs, artifacts and memorabilia. Marine mammal skeletal exhibits on the grounds include gray whales. The Destruction Island Lens is on display here.
